Should Auld Acquaintance be Forgot — Nah.

If ever I lived a year worth reviewing, 2015 was the one.  I am currently up to my ears in the manuscript of A Course Called the Kingdom, but I wanted to take a minute to share my gratitude for some of my memories from days not so auld.  I have plenty of professional quality photographs of stunning places from my travels this year, but I wanted to share the real joys of 2015 by way of some amateur pictures of extraordinary folks.  I recall the faces below more clearly and more fondly than any golf hole or scorecard.

The words that will be tongue-tangled and cheerfully mumbled all over the world tonight feel particularly appropriate after the blessings I received in the home of their author, Robert Burns.  We wandered many a weary foot, among the hillsides and daisies and streams, and indeed, seas between us broad have roared, since these times gone by…

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And days o’ lang syne!

For auld lang syne, my dear
For auld lang syne,
We’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet
For auld lang syne!

We twa hae run about the braes,
And pu’d the gowans fine,
But we’ve wander’d mony a weary foot
Sin’ auld lang syne.

We twa hae paidl’t in the burn
Frae morning sun till dine,
But seas between us braid hae roar’d
Sin’ auld lang syne.

And there’s a hand, my trusty fiere,
And gie’s a hand o’ thine,
And we’ll tak a right guid willie-waught
For auld lang syne!

And surely ye’ll be your pint’ stoup,
And surely I’ll be mine!
And we’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet
For auld lang syne!

  1. Well said Tom, and a Happiest of New Years to you and your family!

It was a great 2015 for all of us!

Visiting in laws in Marlboro, NJ. Just went over to Doylestown, PA with family Tuesday, back to FL tomorrow. Could have played golf this week up here!

    All the best,

    Scott
